Nehara is an adorable little toddler. He is this only child of his doting parents. Although Nehara and his parents live in poverty, the parents try their very best to give Nehara a better life. Nehara’s father is the sole breadwinner of the family. He is a laborer. Work is hard to come but especially with the slow economy. The economic crisis has made thing worse. His annual income is about USD360. The struggle to make ends meet is very difficult. Nehara’s mother is a stay-at-home mother. Nehara is still too young for her to leave him at home and go to work. This young family of three lives in their partially constructed house located in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. The walls of the house are made of cement block stones, the floor is of concrete and the roof of asbestos sheets. The family has to go to a neighbor’s well to draw water for their needs. It seems unfair that Nehara faces such a big challenge at the onset of life. However, if a kind stranger were to step forward to help, little Nehara could be spared of the brutality of poverty and would have a fighting chance to reach out for a better future for himself. 

Ending child poverty begins with Nehara. It’s easy. It’s impactful.
