Little Thisendi was born prematurely, so she suffers from certain health complications. This little infant is the only child of her parents and they simply adore her. Both Thisendi’s parents work very hard to give her they best life that they could possibly give her poverty has stacked up so many odds against them. Thisendi’s father is a laborer. He is the sole breadwinner of the family and he generates an annual income of approximately USD545. Thisendi’s mother is a stay-at-home mother and she takes care of Thisendi and attends to the household chores. Thisendi lives with her parents in her grandparents’ house. The house is only partially constructed and is situated in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. The walls of the house are made of brick, the floor of concrete and the roof is strewn with clay tiles. Thisendi’s parents cannot afford a house of their own. They struggle to nourish their precious little girl. However, if a kind-hearted person were to step forward to help little Thisendi, it will definitely help them beat the odds that poverty has stacked up against them.
