Emmanuel is a humble, active, and quiet boy living with his parents and siblings in one of the villages in mid-western Uganda near the banks of a river. He likes playing football. His family draws water from the riverbanks since they do not have any nearby protected water source where they live, and the river water is never safe for domestic use because its ever contaminated and shared with domestic animals. This exposes Emmanuel and family to risks of waterborne diseases including other children in the community. His parents are peasant farmers renting one acre piece of land which yields are low and poor making them to lack basic needs like balanced diet, clothes, and better medical care since they earn little from sale of the crops. Emmanuel and the family must move for about 4 kilometres to the health centre and this condition has forced them to resort to the use of over-the-counter medicines form drug shops which is health risk. Sponsoring Emmanuel will enable him have access to clean water, basic needs and better health services.
