Sayumi is a charming little girl who finds joy in playing games with her friends just like other kids. She attends a school and she travels to school with her sister, by bus. Her favorite subject is mathematics. The children live with their parents in a beautiful village in Moneragala, Sri Lanka. The family lives in their own partially built house which has been constructed with wattle and sticks. Their floor is cemented. The roof is decked with clay tiles. The family has access to electricity, but, they do not have proper sanitary facilities and use water from a neighbor’s well. Sayumi’s father works as a full time Cultivator to generate an income and earns an annual amount of around USD550/. However, this poor income is not sufficient for the upkeep of his family. His mother looks after the children, helps her father with his work and tries to manage the day to day expenses with their small income However, their life remains hard due to the rising cost of living. A little help from a kind person will definitely help Sayumi to look forward to a better future for herself and her family.
