Mercy is a cheerful young girl who comes from the northern part of Kenya, Turkana County. She lives with her mother, father, two brothers and two sisters. The family lives in a palm thatched hut covered with sticks in a communal land. They fetch water from a community bore hole whose water is scarce as it is depended upon by many households. Her mother is the primary caretaker of the family who depends on casual work. Her father also practices charcoal burning and firewood selling as an income generating activity. However, the annual income generated from this economic activity is below 360 US dollars which is not enough to meet a ll the family basic needs. Her mother decided to approach the office seeking for assistance. Mercy is enrolled in a nearby school and colouring is her favourite activity. While at home, she likes playing hide and seeks with her friends. She would like to be a news reporter when she grows up. Mercy helps her mother in rinsing utensils and sweeping the compound.
