This is Chucho. Hes 8 years old and belongs to a humble family. His father strives working as a policeman and earns $200 USD per month. His mother is a housewife. Chucho has two siblings. Under these circumstances, both parents have to struggle to put the food on the table and keep their children thriving. Chucho speaks Tzeltal and Spanish, and attends primary school, 3rd grade. This family lives in a small, adobe house, which has one room, a kitchen and a latrine. They have access to electricity and drinking water. Chuchos diet basically includes milk, oatmeal, noodles, lentils, cheese, eggs, beans, rice, some vegetables and tortillas. In spite of the adverse situation, hes healthy and has been vaccinated against the main diseases that affect children. Chuchos favorite festivity is Christmas, because he helps to decorate his house with lights and he also goes to posadas to collect candy. He enjoys playing with his toy cars and his wooden horse too.
