Imesh Sathsara, a young boy from Monaragala District, Sri Lanka, lives with his parents in their own home, which is still incomplete. The house, made of brick walls and a concrete floor, has a roof made of asbestos sheets. Despite the challenges, Imesh helps his mother with daily tasks such as gathering firewood and fetching water, contributing to the household in meaningful ways. Imesh enjoys his time at school, attending junior secondary school located 3 km away. He walks to school alone every day, braving the distance with determination. His favorite hobbies are listening to music and playing cricket, which offer him moments of joy despite his family’s struggles. His father works as a seasonal farmer, earning a modest $480 annually, which is not enough to cover all their needs. Providing three meals a day, healthy food, and funding education are constant challenges for the family. Though they have tap water, electricity, and a toilet facility, their financial difficulties remain overwhelming. Imesh’s family urgently needs a sponsor to help lift them out of poverty and provide a better future for Imesh and his parents.
