Ashen is an active child who lives with his brother and parents in a small village located in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. He loves to play volleyball and ride bicycles with his friends. Ashen attends a local school which is 01 k.m. away and he walks to school alone. His favorite subject is mathematics. Ashen and his family lives in their own house which has been partially constructed with cement blocks. They have a concreted floor and an asbestos sheeted roof. They do not have proper sanitary facilities of their own, but they possess electricity and pipe borne water. Ashen’s mother attends to the house work and looks after her children while his father cultivates seasonal cr ops and also does labor work and earns an annual income of around USD570/-. This income is not at all sufficient for them to attend to their day to day needs and to attend to the health care needs of their children. They live a difficult life due to the rising cost of living. Help received from a kind Sponsor will definitely help Ashen to continue his studies and to look forward to a better future for himself and his family.
