Uvindhu Nimasara lives in the Monaragala District of Sri Lanka with his parents and a sister. They live in an incomplete house owned by a relative, with brick and clay walls, a cement floor, and a clay-tiled roof. They have no electricity and get water from a neighbor’s tap, while lacking toilet facilities. Despite these challenges, Uvindhu’s family struggles to make ends meet with an annual income of just $800. Uvindhu’s father works as a seasonal farmer, and his mother is a housewife. Uvindhu helps by looking after his younger sister, allowing his mother to handle household tasks. He attends a primary school 50 meters from home, walking there alone every day. The family faces difficulties in providing healthy food and covering education costs, with books, uniforms, and other necessities being a constant burden. Uvindhu enjoys playing cricket, but the family’s limited resources make it hard to afford many things. They need a sponsor to help with educational and basic living expenses. With support, Uvindhu’s family could overcome their challenges and build a better future for their children.
