Meet Carmen. She belongs to a needy family. The father works as a potter and earns approximately 5 USD per day. The mother is also a potter that earns approximately 5 USD daily. Although both parents work, their low incomes are not enough to put the food on the table and keep the children thriving. Carmen has one brother. She speaks Purepecha and Spanish, and attends primary school, at an early grade. She lives in a shack. Her diet mainly includes oatmeal, rice, lentils, vegetable soup, eggs, cheese, tortillas, and milk. Despite the adverse situation, she weighs 19.7 kg and shes 1.20 m tall.
