Vihansa is a talented artist. She likes to draw the beautiful scenery that she sees in her green and lush village located in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. Her free time is spent playing with her friends from the neighborhood. They like to play with dolls and play hide-and-seek. Vihansa’s favorite subjects in school are Sinhala and Environmental Studies but little Vihansa struggles a bit in school and her grades are below average. Vihansa walks to school and back with her mother and sister. The school is situated about 1.5km away from her home. Vihansa’s mother is a stay-at-home mother. Vihansa’s father is the sole breadwinner of the family. He is a farmer of seasonal crops. His annual income is about USD650. The family lives in their partially constructed house. The low annual income doesn’t allow them to complete the construction of their house. Vihansa helps in every way that she can. She scrapes the coconut for her mother and helps her wash the rice too. Vihansa is a very helpful little girl but could use some help herself. Even the smallest intervention will go a long way.
