Yurca is a friendly girl who lives with her mother and aunt in a community located in the southeastern part of Mozambique. Their simple house, which is self built, has reed walls, dirt floor and a roof covered with grass. It has rudimentary sanitary facilities. They do not have running water. The main source of income of this family is agriculture. Her mother and grandmother are subsistence farmers. They grow crops like corn, cowpeas, groundnuts and cassava. They work hard on their farm, but they do not harvest much due to the poor soil, old farming methods and unpredictable weather patterns. Yurca attends a local primary school. In future, she would like to be a nurse. On her spare time, she enjoys playing hopscotch. She participates in this program where she will benefit from support in the areas of health, nutrition, education and recreation. We are hopeful that your sponsorship will enable this child to have adequate access to basic essentials and have a good future.
