Patrick lives with his parents in a small village in eastern Sierra Leone, he has no siblings. He is currently attending the primary school in his village. His father helps his mother with other work when she is busy. Despite their difficult living conditions, Patrick is in good health. His family lives in a three-bedroom mud house with an old zinc roof, and they sleep on a local bed with a savannah grass-stuffed mattress. Patricks parents are small-scale farmers, mainly growing rice, cassava, and other food items. They sell some of their produce to the nearby villages for additional income and reserve some for family consumption. Their annual income is estimated at US$185, which is insufficient for all of their basic needs. The family hopes for sponsorship to improve their living situation and provide a better future for Patrick.
